The velvet trend of the last few years is still as strong as ever. And with the introduction of Stain Resistant and Easy Clean velvets – it’s becoming even more popular!
We are excited to introduce our own range of Satin Cotton Velvet fabric, with the entire catalogue containing over 100 colour variations exclusive to Micucci Interiors! This luxurious velvet has a very nice weight to it and is very silky to touch. You can use it for upholstery, cushions or curtains, and it’s perfect for both residential and commercial use.
Tested for: seam slippage, colour fastness, pilling, abrasion resistance and have also passed the cigarette test according to the BS 5852 PART 1 standard in Intertek labs
Velvet can be made from cotton, silk, wool, or artificial fabrics like polyester. The principle of making velvet remains the same regardless of the composition – two lengths of cloth are woven face to face, with lengths of fibre stitched through from one to another. Then they are cut apart, leaving the soft nap that is made up of hundreds of tufts of the cut fibre, which makes velvet uniquely soft, warm, and cosy.
One of the most beneficial effects of this method of manufacture – is that each tuft of fibre is a single-cut strand, rather than a loop or woven pattern. So there is nothing to be snagged by pet claws or stray bits of clothing, or to retain bits of dirt and dust. This makes velvet surprisingly hard-wearing and resilient to damage, and very easy to clean with just a vacuum cleaner.
